Lynwood Unified honors dozens of classified employees at May 28 board meeting

Lynwood Unified School District recognized classified employees of the year at its May 28 board meeting, honoring staff from nearly every school site and naming a district classified employee of the year.
Claudia Lopez, the district’s director of classified personnel, and Diana Hawkins, CSEA president, read names and applauded the honorees for contributions such as campus supervision, attendance support, library assistance and family outreach. Individual honorees named in the transcript included (as read aloud) Martha Gateson, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Guadalupe Mendes, Stephanie Espinosa, Melinda Navarro, and many others from elementary, middle and high schools across the district.
The presentation emphasized the essential roles classified staff play on campuses. In closing remarks at the end of the recognition segment, a board member thanked the honorees and their families, noting that employees and families "share them with us every single day" and praising their daily dedication to students.
The board invited all honorees to a group photo. The district also announced three recipients of Mid-City CAC impact awards that recognize inclusion and service for students with disabilities.
The recognition segment occupied a major portion of the meeting, with multiple school-based staff honored and district-level acknowledgement of classified contributions to student success.
