The Farmville board approved a $5,000 pay increase for Town Manager David Tyon after discussing his annual evaluation in a closed session on June 3.
The board voted to enter closed session citing the North Carolina General Statute language provided during the meeting for personnel matters. In closed session the board reviewed the manager’s evaluation and areas of strength. Dr Hobs moved to recommend a $5,000 raise for the town manager; the motion received board approval.
After the vote the board reconvened in open session and Tyon thanked the board: "I appreciate your confidence in me ... I appreciate the staff and we got a good group to work with," he said. The meeting record does not specify the effective date of the raise or whether the increase will be incorporated immediately into payroll; the board previously agreed that any pay adjustments tied to fiscal-year timing would begin with the first full pay period of the fiscal year (beginning July 4).
