Assistant Public Works Director Matt Esel presented a purchase agreement to acquire two Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickups as part of an ODOT carbon-reduction grant. He told council the city received authorization from ODOT to make the purchase and request reimbursement and that the funds are available at ODOT.
"We've received email communication that we are authorized to make the purchase and request reimbursement," Matt said, adding that North Side Ford coordinated with Ford to provide chargers for the vehicles at no cost. He acknowledged council concern over federal funding continuity but said ODOT told staff the money has already been sent to the agency and is ready for reimbursement.
A motion to approve the North Side Ford purchase of two F-150 Lightning pickups for $130,967 from the public-works vehicle-replacement fund was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
Staff said the city can submit invoices to request reimbursement before taking delivery of the vehicles to reduce cash-flow risk. The council recorded no additional conditions and approved the purchase as presented.
