Wellfleet Planning Board appoints Bob as its representative to wastewater advisory committee

The Wellfleet Planning Board unanimously appointed Bob as the planning board’s representative to the town’s Wastewater Advisory Committee.

Don reported that he met “chair to chair with Carl Susman” after the planning board sent a letter to Maurice's Campground and said Susman, new to his board, would raise the issue with his board. The appointment discussion then focused on who could serve on the Wastewater Advisory Committee and on eligibility requirements.

Beth told the board she had asked the town administrator (TA) whether an appointee must attend the committee’s first meeting in person; the TA said yes. Beth also said the TA prefers one planning-board member on the committee, one representative from each board, and that the TA would appoint the at-large member.

A volunteer who identified himself as Bob described four to five years of experience in utility governance and wastewater operations in Florida and said he would be willing to serve, while acknowledging that some of the newer wastewater technologies in Wellfleet are unfamiliar to him. Board members said a local resident with regular availability could be preferable but noted that no other volunteers stepped forward.

Alfred moved to appoint Bob to the Wastewater Advisory Committee; a second was recorded in the meeting audio but the transcript does not clearly identify who seconded. The board took a roll-call vote and the motion passed unanimously.

The board’s discussion also noted that committee members and town staff are gathering engineering and consultant information about wastewater systems in Wellfleet going forward.
