Hainesville board approves equipment, IT security policy and water project change orders

The Hainesville Board of Trustees approved several operational and capital items during its May 26 meeting.
Trustees voted to purchase an MT120 track loader for $41,831.40 through the state purchasing source, noting the item is budgeted. A roll call indicated the motion carried unanimously.
The board also adopted an information technology and security policy intended to address audit findings and formalize rules for municipal IT assets, multifactor authentication and the village’s bring‑your‑own‑device approach. Trustees were told annual security awareness training and further staff work would follow policy adoption.
On water‑system work, trustees approved multiple change orders for the village’s fourth well that reflected field conditions and IEPA equipment requirements, and they discussed the benefit of adding a fourth well so the distribution system would have three functional wells in normal operation. A pay request for the village warehouse project — the first payment for the contract — was also approved for approximately $1.186 million.
Trustees also discussed the village snowplow contract history and by consensus directed staff to go back out to bid rather than immediately extend the current agreement, citing it has been several years since the last competitive procurement.
Board members emphasized they will follow up on contract details and training schedules related to each approved item.
