Commissioners raised concerns about the proposed date (originally Aug. 29, later discussed as Sept. 12), the availability of fields during the town's fall scheduling window, and whether a third field would be appropriate for some age groups.
Because LGSL (the town's league) holds a first right of refusal for fall scheduling, commissioners approved the NHCORR request subject to LGSL's agreement to give up the date, and contingent on the organization providing required insurance and paying the applicable field fees. Commissioners also discussed a per‑field fee structure referenced in the request (the applicant noted a historical $1,000 registration figure for a three‑field event and commissioners spoke of a $200 per‑field fee), and asked staff to confirm age groups and parking/lighting logistics for a late‑day championship game.
The approval is administrative rather than a change in policy; commissioners instructed staff to coordinate with LGSL and return any unresolved scheduling conflicts to the commission. The commission also reiterated standard event requirements: insurance, cleanup, and compliance with field‑use rules.
What happens next: staff will confirm LGSL availability, verify insurance and exact fees with the applicant, and report back to the commission for final confirmation if LGSL does not cede the date.
