Litchfield planning board assigns presenters for town deliberative session, readies talking points

The Litchfield Planning Board on Feb. 3 assigned members to present zoning warrant articles at the town’s deliberative session scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Campbell High School Auditorium.
Assignments discussed and recorded by the board included: Jared to present zoning amendment No. 1 on accessory dwelling units (ADUs); another member to cover home-occupation conditional-use questions; Letha Riley to present the solar installation article and the duplex-definition amendment; the chair to cover certification and the impact-fee amendment; and other members to cover remaining articles and the petition warrant article, which the planning board had not recommended.
Chair Michael Croto urged the presenters to be prepared to explain the board’s rationale for any "not recommended" votes and to have talking points ready. "We should be prepared to address any questions as to why we did not recommend," he said. The board agreed to share talking points and a consistent presentation template; Joan McKimman will assist with logistics and ensure presenters receive the template.
The board also discussed logistics for the next regular meeting and for the March 3 meeting where a larger development package (Colby Farms at Albuquerque and Morgan) is expected. Members agreed to coordinate slides or talking points and to keep presentations concise to limit audience questions.
