Esco Latimer addressed the council during the public comment period and said he will file a formal complaint alleging that confidential internal communications from the city manager were improperly disclosed to outside parties.
"When you have a local activist like myself in the community...and you have the city manager implying that I have murdered someone, I think that's a pretty serious accusation against a minority," Latimer said, telling the council he will submit a complaint alleging improper disclosure and that he will share supporting emails with council members.
Latimer also described a new, self-funded nonprofit he is launching called Pipeline to Pantries to assist seniors waiting for Meals on Wheels; he said his effort will initially be self-funded and that his team has identified roughly 100 seniors waiting for Meals on Wheels and an additional approximately 400 who are underserved.
Councilors acknowledged the comment and said they would take follow-up steps consistent with council procedure; no motion or formal action followed during the meeting.
