Residents urge stricter enforcement as board renews petition for amplified‑music exemption

Several residents urged the township to press for better enforcement of local sound rules after repeated weekend complaints about amplified bass and vibration from an event venue. One resident described hearing and feeling bass inside the home and urged the board to press venue leadership and regulators to address the problem.

Administration said the township's prior exemption from amplified‑music limits under the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board policy remains in effect only through August and that the township must reapply for a longer exemption as requested by the venue. Township staff said some complaints have been logged, that the town has a sound meter that is deployed by trained staff and that bass frequencies can carry under decibel thresholds that focus on A‑weighted decibel levels.

After public comment the board moved and adopted a resolution authorizing staff to submit the petition to the LCB to continue the exemption process. Residents asked the township to use available sound meters and staff review to investigate bass and frequency concerns and to report back on whether events exceed allowable limits or require additional controls. A resident reiterated: "Not only can I hear it, but I can feel there's some sort of puls vibration," describing how weekend events sometimes reach indoors. The board asked staff to continue enforcement work and to include sound‑meter measurements where feasible.

The resolution to petition the LCB was moved and carried; staff will pursue the administrative process and report any complaints and enforcement outcomes in future meeting records.
