Twinsburg board hears curriculum overhaul; approves Amplify Desmos Math purchase and new AP physics materials

The Twinsburg City School District’s Curriculum & Technology Committee presented a multi-phase selection process that recommended Amplify Desmos Math (ADM) for grades K–6, and the board approved purchases to implement the adoption.

Committee members described a data-driven review: an initial screen using EdReports and a nine-point rubric narrowed dozens of vendors to five finalists. District educators and administrators then reviewed presentations and classroom implementations; the committee cited ADM’s alignment to state standards, its problem-based approach, built-in formative checks, teacher resources and the adaptive digital platform "Boost." Presenters said the adoption includes benchmark assessments, teacher and summer training opportunities, family guides, and differentiated teacher supports.

At the public meeting the board approved the purchase of Amplify Desmos Math by vote (purchase amount recorded in the meeting as $593,446.60 for class sets and six years of digital access). The board also approved a purchase of College Physics materials ($7,389.52) for AP physics and a wireless/access networking purchase for George G. Dodge Intermediate ($131,360.81 total with 50% reimbursed through E-rate). Those items carried as part of the consent/action agenda and passed by unanimous roll calls.

Administrators said teacher training will begin in May for some grade bands with multiple summer training dates and a planned family information night in September. Committee members said the decision focused as much on teacher usability and instructional coherence as on student engagement.

Next steps: after receiving the materials, the district will implement teacher training dates, distribute sampler sets for buildings and integrate ADM’s digital platform into classrooms ahead of the 2026–27 school year.
