Board approves $63,275 award for Moonlow lift station pump work

Donna Inennis told the board the city had solicited four bids for the pump installation, and after removing a fencing line item the low responsive bid came in at $63,275. "The low bid was $63,275 for Dean Christiani Excavating, and we just recommend that you approve that," Inennis said. She said the city already purchased the larger pumps, panels and related equipment earlier, which reduced the portion the board task (BOT) budget would cover.
Inennis said the BOT originally budgeted $100,000 for the project; after equipment purchases the BOT would cover $39,499.36 and the city’s wastewater operating fund would pay the remaining $23,825.64. The board made a motion to award the contract, approve the notice of award and authorize the wastewater funds; the motion passed by voice vote.
Why it matters: the pump upgrade increases the lift station’s capacity for an area where residential development is underway and follows prior planning included in the BOT project bids. The board’s action authorizes immediate contracting to complete the installation now that equipment is on hand.
The board did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote. The board moved to the next agenda item after approving the award.
