McDowell schools renew Panorama contract for MTSS and reading plans at roughly $43,000

The McDowell County Board of Education voted unanimously May 11 to renew its Panorama contract, a districtwide platform used to document the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) and to manage individual elementary reading plans. Ms. Hamby, the staff presenter, said Panorama is embedded across K–12 instruction, reduces duplicate documentation and improves data-driven decision-making.
Ms. Hamby told the board the renewal cost is "43,000 and some change" and recommended board approval to avoid disruption to established systems and practices. A motion to renew the contract was made and seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote.
Board questions focused on continuity of services and staff training; Ms. Hamby said staff are already trained and the platform helps ensure consistent MTSS documentation across schools. The board did not approve any contract amendments or extended scope beyond renewal at the May 11 meeting.
Next steps: District staff will complete administrative renewal steps and report back on any vendor terms that require board approval for contract amendments.
