Mayor Mike Clement was recognized by the Manchester Board of Aldermen during the Session One meeting on May 4, 2026, as the board and community speakers honored his years of service.
Parkway Superintendent Dr. Mellisa Schnieder thanked Mayor Clement for his support, and St. Louis County Council members Mark Harder and Dennis Hancock presented a proclamation recognizing his service. Mayor Clement accepted the recognition and outlined several upcoming community events: a Flags of Valor display pairing more than 7,200 dog tags and photos scheduled the week of Sept. 5; an America 250 speaker series resuming May 5 and May 12 focused on founding documents; and an America 250 community celebration on June 14 featuring American and Missouri history presentations and an 1860s baseball game.
Mayor Clement also announced Memorial Day planning for May 25 at 10:00 a.m., with additional parking made available in the upper lot of Manchester United Methodist, at Kohl's, and at West County Fire and EMS. He thanked staff, volunteers and residents for their support, and acknowledged the naming of the City Hall Community Room in his honor and a veterans' memorial paver recognizing his military service.
Nancy Venezia, a Manchester resident, accepted the mayor's proclamation for the National Day of Prayer and invited residents to the 75th annual National Day of Prayer observance at the Justice Center on May 7.
City Clerk Michelle Melugin administered oaths of office to Mayor Toben and Aldermen Parmentier and Bitzer later in the meeting. The board adjourned Session One at 7:56 p.m.
The recognition and announced events are recorded in the official minutes; event descriptions and counts (for example, —over 7,200— pairings for Flags of Valor) were stated by the mayor in the meeting and should be confirmed with event organizers or published event materials for precise details.
