District reports spring activities growth, new registration system and summer offerings

Henderson said five students qualified for state speech competition and one took third in drama; several students earned superior awards in Minnesota State High School League visual art competition. He noted an Inner City Tennis grant from the U.S. Tennis Association will support community tennis programming this summer and that the district is rolling out a new registration system for summer activities designed to improve family access to information and calendars.
Board members asked whether the district coordinates summer offerings with the City of Columbia Heights; Henderson said the district aims to dovetail programming, typically offering grades 6'12 while the city focuses on K'5, and that he has met the city's new recreation director to coordinate schedules.
The board thanked Henderson for the update and requested the non-host co-op fee research be shared in the board packet when available.
