Franklin County held a public hearing on Nov. 2, 2023, to receive comment on Local Law 5 of 2023, which would amend Local Law 6 of 2021, the countyWorkers' Compensation Self-Insurance Plan. Vice Chairwoman Andrea Dumas convened the hearing at 10:30 a.m. in the Chambers on the fourth floor of the Franklin County Courthouse in Malone, N.Y.
Deputy Clerk Heather Marlow read the legal notice for the hearing, which stated the Legislature would take oral and written comments on the proposed local law and provided contact information for Penny A. Premo, Clerk of the Franklin County Legislature. Marlow told the body that no written comments had been received prior to the hearing.
Personnel Director Kim Godreau and Probation Director Jon Sanger described the changes in the draft local law. They said the Probation Department has been added to the list of county departments required to undergo medical examinations under the Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Plan. Probation Director Jon Sanger and Probation Officer Jen Taylor also described an eight-week training program that new probation employees are required to complete upon hiring.
