Highway superintendent reports culvert blockages, County Road concrete work and lingering Platte River Road issues

Highway Superintendent Huppert told the Dodge County Board that crews are grading County Road O off Highway 79 but rain has slowed progress. He said crews are responding to four culverts plugged by beaver dams and contacted Wildlife Specialist Scot Rosendahl, who is working with homeowners to obtain access to the sites.
A contractor has begun removing concrete in 200- to 300-foot sections on County Road 2 on the west side of Dodge; Huppert said one lane is kept open and work will pause during harvest before resuming. He also reported continued work and outstanding striping and signage on Platte River Road and said the State has asked where the signed relinquishment contract is for transferring Platte River Road to Dodge County.
County Attorney Hopkins told the board the county will not sign a relinquishment contract while the state work remains incomplete. Supervisor Tawney said the State informed him the work could continue for another two months.
Huppert said he is hoping culvert contractor work on F Road (Herman/Scribner Road) will begin in early September; lane closures will be necessary in some locations while repairs are made.
