The South Strabane Township Board of Supervisors approved two new actions during the meeting.
First, the board authorized Laura Kiesling to collect the fourth-quarter mercantile tax and delinquent mercantile tax under the township’s 2025 fee arrangement (1.4% of mercantile tax collected; 3% of delinquent collections). A motion to authorize Kiesling was made and seconded and the board voted 5-0 to carry the motion.
Second, the board approved a site-access agreement with Thompson Electric, Inc. to allow temporary use of township property at 253 Zedekah Station for staging of upcoming projects. Board discussion noted past payments of about $800 per month for similar arrangements and several supervisors proposed increasing the fee to $1,000 per month given site improvements (gating and cameras). A staff member and supervisors agreed the agreement should require certificates of insurance naming the township as an additional insured before the company may begin staging. The motion to authorize the agreement with the $1,000/month term and insurance condition was moved and seconded and passed 5-0.
Both actions were routine votes taken under new business; the board did not attach additional conditions beyond those recorded in the motions.
