Authority reports Keim Street settlement, Aug. 7 dry-weather overflow and generator damage at Porter Road station

The Lower Pottsgrove Township Authority received three operational updates Sept. 9 covering a legal settlement, a brief sewer overflow and equipment damage.
Manager Edward C. Wagner told the Authority that the settlement agreement related to a sewer-line incident on Keim Street—prepared by Solicitor Stephen Kalis’ office—has been signed and that all parties have been paid in full.
Wagner also reported a dry-weather overflow on Aug. 7 that lasted no more than an hour after a heavy rain surcharged a manhole on North Valley Road and the inlet was affected. Wagner said the Borough of Pottstown jetting work cleared the line and that DEP was notified. Ebert said drought conditions likely contributed by leaving grease and toilet paper in place; when the first significant rain occurred it flushed buildup into a clog.
Separately, Wagner said the Porter Road pump station generator was damaged when a bird flew into it; the vendor is coordinating with insurance and staff expect an update.
The Authority did not vote on any policy changes related to these incidents during the Sept. 9 meeting.
