Authority previews 2025 sewer budget and capital projects; sludge line item reported nearly $365,000 under budget

Lower Pottsgrove Township Authority members reviewed capital priorities the evening of Sept. 9 as staff prepared the 2025 draft operation and capital sewer budgets.
Manager Edward C. Wagner said staff included anticipated projects such as a UV disinfection light, a belt filter press and a hypochlorite system in the planning materials. Engineer Fred Ebert added that a significant improvement to the sludge dryer was proposed and that he would provide more information at the Authority’s Oct. 8 quarterly meeting.
Wagner told members that the sludge line item is currently under budget by almost $365,000, a figure he said was based on the tonnage accepted by contractor JP Mascaro. The Authority’s budget group will meet again Sept. 23 after borough figures are available; Wagner said the goal is not to increase sewer rates.
No budget approvals occurred on Sept. 9; staff said a draft of the 2025 operation and capital sewer budgets will be available for the Authority’s next meeting.
