Whitpain Township on Jan. 5 adopted Ordinance No. 429 to update the township’s traffic impact fee, increasing the charge from $3,089 to roughly $4,324 per additional trip, Township Manager Eric Traub said.
Traub told the Board the fee had not been revised since 2016–17 and that the increase reflects recommendations from the Impact Fee Advisory Committee, township staff and a traffic consultant.
Township Solicitor Alexander M. Glassman, Esq., marked three items into the record for the adoption: the draft ordinance, the public notice and proof of publication. The Board voted to adopt the ordinance; the motion carried unanimously.
The Board clarified the traffic engineering consultant’s hourly rate range on the record; the maximum in the approved rate schedule is $225 per hour (the range spans from $95 to $225). Changes to the fee schedule made by this ordinance will be reflected in the township’s overall fee schedule on a future resolution, Mr. Traub said.
What happens next: the ordinance documentation was entered into the record at the Jan. 5 meeting; staff will implement the revised fee schedule as directed by the Board and incorporate it into the township’s published fee schedule.
