The Freehold Township Parks and Recreation Commission on April 22 said several park projects remain underway, with the Durand Respite Area now expected to open in the fall after winter weather delayed renovations.
Commissioners also reported that repairs to the township stage remain pending insurance approval after vandalism; the commission said additional cameras will be installed and paid for through capital funds. The meeting minutes state "the township is still waiting to hear back from insurance for the repairs that need to be made from the vandalism. Additional cameras will be added and paid for through capital." (Chairman John Cerrato presided.)
Staff told the commission the "My Playground" installation has seen heavy use and the contractor is addressing repairs to portions of concrete and safety surfacing as part of project closeout. The minutes record that the playground "has been getting a tremendous amount of use" and that closeout repairs are in progress (staff: Sue McGough).
The new tennis pavilion is scheduled for delivery by the end of April and is expected to be completed before summer camp begins. Work on MJT basketball-court renovations has not yet started; staff reported they are "awaiting updated information regarding the project schedule and timeline." The Sami Center playground is scheduled to ship on May 5.
These items were presented as project updates during the commission's old-business reports; no formal motions or vote counts were recorded for the project-status items. Commission staff will bring updated timelines and contractor schedules to future meetings for follow-up.
