Beech Grove board approves July 3 fireworks at Sarah T. Bolton Park and a Main Street block party

Derek Blice, vice president of the Beach Grove Promoters Club, asked for full use of Sarah T. Bolton Park on July 3 with vendor setup during the day, a 5 p.m. vendor opening and fireworks to be launched at dusk, with an Aug. 8 rain date. "The event will be held in Sarah T Bolton Park on July 3 with a rain date of August 8," said Samantha Stratton, clerk treasurer, reading the event request on behalf of the promoters club. The board voted to approve the request.
Separately, Jeff Mader, vice president of Next Stop Beach Grove, requested a temporary road closure on Main Street between 6th and 7th Avenues on June 26 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for an expanded Fourth Friday Art Walk block party. The proposal includes local artist vendors, food, music and a community movie screening of Remember the Titans at dusk; the board approved that closure and permit.
Board members said city staff will coordinate details with departments and notify affected vendors and operators. The mayor noted city departments will meet with event organizers to finalize logistics. The board recorded the motions and approved both permits by voice vote.
The events are scheduled to proceed pending standard operational coordination and weather. The board did not attach additional conditions during the approvals.
