Bridgeport board approves refuse and water rate resolutions; audit shows improving refuse fund

Rob Friske of Quast Janke & Company presented the township's 2023 audited financial statements and said the auditors issued an unmodified opinion, the firm's highest level of assurance. Friske said the refuse fund posted a positive balance for the first time since 2014 and the township is "predicted to be out of a deficit in 2025." He also noted water and wastewater pension liabilities have been affected by the recent stock-market performance and that a new accounting change for assets over 12 months will affect reporting going forward.
