Public Works Director Russ Paul explained the ordinance would clarify parking restrictions within intersections and align the allowed distance from stop signs to 20 feet. The ordinance also proposes adding a no-parking provision on a short stretch of NE 56th Street between Ponderosa Drive and Lacebark Drive where street curvature and topography create sight-line problems.
Residents George Salnave and Fred Krambeck addressed the council with concerns and suggestions about how the changes might be applied in practice. City Attorney Brad Skinner confirmed that modifications are allowed before the third reading; councilmembers asked staff to review the resident comments and make recommendations ahead of final action.
The second reading carried unanimously (AYES: Murray, Birch, Hodges, DeMoss, Konrad; NAYS: none).
