Area plan representative Mr. Glancy explained the request was certified with a favorable recommendation by the Area Planning Commission to rezone the parcel from I‑1 industrial to agricultural to reflect the longstanding campground use and to allow an owner residence near the campground. Mr. Glancy said the rezoning "supports an existing local business and allows room for that business to continue and expand in a way that fits the property better."
Property owners Larry and Sherry Nottingham spoke in favor; Larry Nottingham said they have owned the park for eleven years and plan to build a family home on the parcel. Miss Jordan read the ordinance language and statutory references; after public comment the board moved and adopted the ordinance by voice vote.
Why it matters: the change aligns zoning with current land use for the campground and permits an owner residence on the property while leaving adjacent parcels available for future development.
