Brian Boyle was elected chairman of the Town of Atkinson Police Station Location Committee during its meeting Tuesday, when committee members voted unanimously to confirm his selection.
Charlie George moved to elect Brian Boyle as chairman; Phil Busby seconded the motion, and the vote was recorded as 6–0–0 in favor. The meeting opened at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
After the election, committee members reviewed documents and town property maps provided by the town and discussed a range of options for locating a new police station. Members identified four principal avenues for further work: re-examining locations that an earlier committee had identified and eliminated; identifying other town-owned properties that might be suitable; pursuing acquisition by purchase or trade of private property; and pursuing acquisition of state-owned property.
The committee also named additional specific locations to investigate in more depth. Members agreed to gather more detailed information on those sites and return with findings at the next scheduled meeting on March 18, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
No formal motions or votes were recorded on specific parcels or acquisition strategies at this meeting.
