Town Supervisor to step down; board discusses interim appointments and ballot change for highway term

Separately, the board discussed a potential local law to change the term length for the Superintendent of Highways from two years to four years so the question could be placed on a future ballot. Board members noted that timing and the requirement for a public referendum mean the change would likely wait until the next general election.
The board also reviewed routine personnel matters including the assessor’s request for reappointment to another six-year term and scheduled discussion dates for Teamsters contract negotiations. No final personnel appointments were made during the meeting; the board directed staff to follow up and present formal recommendations in a future session.
