Benzie County EMS to begin community CPR classes and carry Narcan on trucks

Craig Johnson of Benzie County EMS told the board on Sept. 22 that the department will begin offering free Community CPR classes beginning Oct. 15 at the Inland Township Hall and will run monthly classes at different locations across the county. Johnson also said that beginning Oct. 1 EMS crews will carry Narcan on ambulances to treat opioid overdoses.
Johnson reported that call volume was high the first two weeks of September and then slowed. The board did not vote on funding for the classes at the Sept. 22 meeting; Johnson presented the schedule and the Narcan plan as operational updates.
