Dickinson Township wins $1 million state federal grant for park development

Township Manager Jill Lovett told the Board of Supervisors on Feb. 4 that Dickinson Township has been awarded a $1,000,000 grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to be administered through the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources and the National Park Service.
Lovett said the award is restricted to park development and that the final step is executing the grant contract with the National Park Service. Chairman Rob Kole described the award as ‘‘very exciting’’ and said the township intends the funding for park amenities and to preserve the purchased parcel as park land in perpetuity.
The board discussed next steps for park design and additional grant opportunities for 2026; Manager Lovett said staff will bring grant resolutions back to the board for authorizations as appropriate. The funding commitment means the parcel identified for Lindenwood Park is to remain community parkland and that the township will proceed with planning and vendor selection to develop amenities funded by the grant.
Manager Lovett and board members encouraged continued community outreach as planning proceeds and said the township will coordinate with residents and advisory bodies on final park features.
