Rothschild accepts sanitary sewer CMAR with A ratings; board declines deer-culling action after 162-survey response

The Village of Rothschild Board voted on Aug. 12 to approve Resolution 2024-9, formally accepting the 2023 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report (CMAR) for the village sanitary sewer system and authorizing submission of the report to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR).
Administrator of Public Works Timothy Vergara told the board the CMAR shows strong financials and collection management with grade-A ratings. Vergara recommended approval of the resolution, which was moved by Trustee Dan Helgeson and seconded by Trustee Sam Stroik; the motion carried 7:0.
Separately, Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle reported results from a deer-culling survey posted to the village Facebook page on July 31 and again on Aug. 6. The survey drew 162 responses, but village staff said participation appeared to be slowing and not conclusive. The board discussed the results and agreed not to participate in a culling program at this time; no formal action was taken on culling.
