Rothschild board removes PerMar security fee from schedule and switches medical‑insurance broker to USI

The Village Board on Oct. 14 approved two administrative changes affecting village operations and vendor relationships.
Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle said PerMar Security’s fees fluctuate with event usage and that the village has not used the company consistently for pavilion events. He recommended removing a PerMar Security line item from the 2024 fee schedule and providing actual PerMar fees to renters during the booking process along with the signed contract for transparency. The motion to remove the PerMar fee carried 6–1; Trustee Deb Ehster recorded the sole dissent.
VanDeWalle and Clerk Elizabeth Felkner also recommended changing the village’s medical insurance consultant from The Horton Group to USI because they said The Horton Group had been slow to provide timely renewal numbers. The board approved the consultant change to USI by a 7–0 vote.
Both actions were presented as administrative decisions intended to improve transparency and responsiveness to staff and end users; no direct cost differences in consultant fees were reported in the minutes.
