The Leonard Park Committee of the Village/Town of Mount Kisco reviewed a one-page proposal from architect Dana Hochberg for the renovation of the Leonard Park Tea House during its Sept. 10, 2024 meeting. Village Manager Edward Brancati presented material options and said the architect's scope of work can be completed using the existing budget, with no additional fundraising required.
Brancati told the committee that bathroom fixtures removed during asbestos abatement will not be reused and will be disposed of. The architect's one-page proposal included choices for the exterior bathroom door, interior lighting fixtures, flooring surface, ceiling finish and bathroom tile.
Committee members focused on maintaining the design's integrity while improving functionality. Discussion items included options to lighten the interior, using an epoxy floor similar to one at the firehouse, lowering ceiling fans for greater effectiveness, installing timers on bathroom locks and lights, and retaining the wooden benches currently in the space.
The committee did not take a formal vote on specific materials at the meeting; Village Manager Edward Brancati indicated staff will continue to work with the architect on selections and next steps.
