Council approves $400,000 SS4A planning application and ratifies EV charging licensing

Price City Council approved staff seeking a $400,000 federal SS4A grant to create a Comprehensive Transportation Safety Action Plan and ratified an EV charging-station licensing agreement during its May 13 meeting.
Public Works Director Miles Nelson described the SS4A opportunity and said the plan would position the city to apply for additional federal transportation safety funds. "There may be an opportunity to obtain grant funding to develop a Comprehensive Transportation Safety Action plan," Nelson said, and staff proposed using consultant Lecticon, Inc. to assist with the application.
Councilmember Tina Urbanik moved to approve applying for the $400,000 SS4A grant; Councilmember Layne Miller seconded and the motion carried. Separately, the council ratified a ChargePoint EV licensing agreement (quotation #Q-613449_I) in the consent agenda for $11,260 and approved other consent items related to parks, planning and utility agreements.
Nelson said the comprehensive safety plan would identify projects and policies to reduce road fatalities and serious injuries and could make the city competitive for follow-on federal funding. The approval authorizes staff to pursue the SS4A planning grant; any funded projects would require further council review and appropriation.
