Council waives fees for candidate forums and a recovery-day event

Price City Council on May 27 granted fee waivers for two community events: Castle Country Radio’s "Meet the Candidates" forum series and USARA’s annual Recovery Day resource and outreach event.
A Castle Country Radio representative (addressed in the meeting as Aidan) asked to use the Price Civic Auditorium June 9–12 to host four nights of candidate forums, giving individual races a dedicated night to ensure focused questions and easier public participation. The organizer said forums will run about 45 minutes to an hour and will be recorded and posted to a YouTube channel for later viewing. Council agreed to waive the refundable deposit for the four nights.
USARA’s representative described Recovery Day—previously held at the Peace Garden and the fairgrounds—as a free resource fair that connects people to inpatient and local recovery resources and offers a free meal and prize drawings. The group requested a park-fee waiver for its Sept. 4, 2026 Recovery Day; the council approved the request. USARA said it is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides services free of charge and has previously provided a free dinner to the first 300 attendees.
Council members noted the broad community benefit of both events and approved both motions by voice vote.
