Price City Council on May 27 approved purchase of a 2026 Ford F-350 one-ton truck to add capacity for firefighter transport and lower wear on larger apparatus.
Staff presented three bids and recommended the Price Auto Ford offer for $62,516 based on interior capacity, reliability and the fleet mechanic’s endorsement. Staff said two other bids were received: Blue Diamond GM for $63,849 and another Price Auto Farm entry at $56,148, but the recommended model best met operational needs when fitted and equipped for the department.
A staff representative said the truck will reduce the need to use larger apparatus for personnel transport and will be outfitted with a covered bed, SCBA storage, fans and communications equipment after purchase. The expenditure is included in the capital improvement budget scheduled for the next fiscal year, and staff said outfitting costs are budgeted separately.
A council motion to approve the purchase passed by voice vote.
