Stone Park trustees approve design work, Division Street pavers and CDBG grant application

Stone Park, Ill. — At a Nov. 12 Village of Stone Park Board of Trustees meeting, the board approved a series of routine municipal actions, including contracting for design work on the property formerly known as Casa Italia, payment for street paver work, adoption of a signage ordinance, authorization to apply for federal block grant funds and renewal of the village insurance policy.
Trustee Marco T. Paz moved to approve the minutes from the Oct. 22 committee and board meetings; Trustee Simplisio Roman seconded, and the board approved the minutes on a roll-call vote with trustees recorded as voting in favor. Trustee Loretta J. Teets moved to approve a $16,000 Design Bridge proposal for the property formerly known as Casa Italia; Trustee Paz seconded and the motion passed by roll call.
The board adopted Ordinance 24‑21, "An Ordinance Amending Title XI of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Stone Park (Signage)," after Trustee Teets moved and Trustee Nazario Garcia seconded the motion; the ordinance was recorded as passing on a unanimous roll-call vote. The board also approved Premium Exterior Services, Inc. Invoice #24‑10296 in the amount of $30,555 to remove existing pavers and install new brick pavers along Division Street; Trustee Teets moved, Trustee Simplisio Roman seconded, and the motion passed.
Trustee Teets moved, and Trustee Marco A. Gutierrez seconded, approval of Resolution 24‑08, authorizing the village to submit the 2024 program‑year application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds; the resolution passed on a unanimous roll-call vote. Under finance the trustees approved bills totaling $1,579,666.37 across listed funds (General Fund, Motor Fuel Tax, Water Fund) and approved the village's 2025 insurance policy renewal following a motion by Trustee Gutierrez and second by Trustee Teets. The minutes note that revenue is not included in the expense report.
Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla used his report to thank Jessica Ramirez, Public Works Superintendent, for installing holiday lights throughout the village and said the village will be ready to light them for Thanksgiving. There were no closed‑session actions and no new business noted; the board adjourned by unanimous voice vote.
