Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla and Trustee Loretta J. Teets led a discussion Nov. 12 about redevelopment plans for the property formerly known as "Casa Italia," including a $6,000 proposal from Design Bridge for project work.
Trustee Teets presented the Design Bridge proposal and asked the board to consider next steps for the site. Mayor Mazzulla said he had just met with Vision Construction to review the police station project and told trustees he would meet separately with Design Bridge to review the overall project, which he prefers be referred to as the "Stone Park Village Complex Project." He also recommended dedicating the new police station "In Memory of Trustee Joseph Burdi." (Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla)
The mayor invited trustees to visit Division Street, where brick paving tied to the village's Deco Project has been completed. Trustee Teets also presented Premium Exterior Services, Inc. Invoice #24-10296 for $30,555 for removal of existing pavers and installation of new brick pavers along Division Street and requested board approval of the expense.
Trustee Marco T. Paz questioned the timetable for selecting a new name for the site; the mayor did not set a formal deadline at the meeting but recommended using the "Stone Park Village Complex Project" label for reference and said he would continue coordinating meetings with project contractors and design consultants.
Next steps: the mayor will meet with Design Bridge and Vision Construction to finalize plans and trustees will be asked to consider formal approvals (fees, permits and any naming actions) at a future meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:02 p.m. after a unanimous vote to close the session.
