Lenox Board of Assessors finalizes FY25 abatements, approves motor vehicle excise tax actions

The Lenox Board of Assessors voted April 9 to grant eight Fiscal Year 2025 real estate abatements and deny six others, finalizing all filed FY25 applications. The meeting began in executive session under GL c.30A S 21a7 and GL c.59 S 60 to review abatement applications in detail before returning to open session.
Thomas Romeo, board chair, motioned to place the matter of FY25 real estate abatements before the board; Wayne Lemanski seconded and the motion carried 3-0. Paul Kapinos, president of PK Consultant Associates, joined by Zoom and reported that in‑house inspections for residential applicants were completed and that financial statements for commercial applicants were reviewed as part of the consultant’s assessment.
Following the vote, Heather Durant, the assessors clerk, was directed to mail the board’s decisions to applicants within the next 10 business days. The board also approved the March 27 meeting minutes (motion by Romeo; seconded by Jaimy Messana) and carried motions to approve motor vehicle excise tax commitments 2025‑2 and 2024‑8 and to grant the presented motor vehicle excise tax abatement applications; all recorded motions carried 3-0.
The board adjourned at 4:02 p.m. after taking the listed actions. No public testimony or dissenting votes were recorded in the minutes.
