Applicant Zachary Rivers seeks appointment to Jericho Affordable Housing Committee

At the March 10 meeting, Zachary Rivers introduced himself to the Town of Jericho Affordable Housing Committee and described his interest in joining the panel. Rivers said he grew up in Jericho, attended the University of Vermont and lived away for 10 years. He told the committee that when he returned to Jericho it took him 18 months to find a home, and that many people he has spoken with have had similar difficulty resettling in town. He said those experiences motivated him to give back to the community; he noted he is the father of a 7‑ and a 4‑year‑old.

Committee members each gave brief background statements. SJ Dube described her path to the committee and emphasized that an interest and willingness to learn are most important for new members. Eric Glitman summarized his long residence in Jericho and noted his prior service on the Planning Commission. Stacy Burnett said she is stepping down to create space for new energy on the committee. No appointment vote was recorded at this meeting; the matter was discussed during the membership agenda item.
