Commission hears July dig schedule and October Living History Weekend plans

At the Bolton Heritage Farm Commission meeting on June 5, 2023, organizer Christine Pittsley outlined logistics for a July archaeological program called “Digging into History” and provided dates for volunteer and public events.
Pittsley said the dig will begin July 13, students will visit the farm July 14 for an American-style potluck, and an open house for the dig—intended for the press and invited dignitaries—is scheduled for July 17. She told the commission that two porta-potties and a hand-washing station will be dropped off at the farm on July 11 to support the activities.
Commissioners also recorded that there was no update at this meeting on the Living History Weekend planned for Oct. 7–8, 2023. Chair Arlene Fiano raised a longer-term item: involvement in the 2026 WaRo/W3R National Trail Celebration; Commissioner Rhea Klein volunteered to receive emails and notifications to keep the commission informed.
During new business, alternate Leslie Shea suggested placing additional benches or seating along the trails to improve visitor comfort. The minutes list fund balances (Heritage Farm Fund $8,032.39; Rosie Fund $5,466.65) that may be relevant to event logistics and equipment purchases. The meeting adjourned at 7:37 P.M.
