She alleged that players had urinated and defecated near a neighbor's fence and that a porta-potty had been delivered the following day. Sharon also described the proximity of the courts to private yards and said the sound and activity had caused personal distress.
In response to public comments, the mayor clarified he had authorized placement of a sanitary can at Rainier Trails Park after a resident showed video evidence of an apparent exposure incident and said the action was taken by the executive branch without a request to parks staff for budget authority. "I did it because I'm the executive branch," the mayor said, adding that complaints can be directed to him.
Council did not take any immediate regulatory action at the meeting; public commenters and staff expressed that parks and public-safety issues may require follow-up from the appropriate departments.
