Council approves temporary VFW lease amendment to host senior center during renovations

Uniontown The council approved a lease amendment with VFW Post 1949 to provide temporary exclusive occupancy of the post's hall for senior center programming during renovations to the Enumclaw Senior Center.
Parks Director Alina Hibbs reported the city renewed the lease earlier in the year and advanced plans for structural upgrades at the senior center that will require temporary relocation. The amendment grants the city exclusive weekday use from June 1 through Sept. 30, 2026 (with two preexisting rentals excluded) and provides $6,800 in compensation to the VFW, to be absorbed by the project budget. Hibbs said the city will also make minor accessibility improvements at the VFW hall, also paid from the project budget.
"This will ensure that we accommodate senior center programming, accessibility requirements, operational needs, and other considerations during the temporary relocation period," Hibbs said. The council moved and approved Resolution 18-78 by voice vote.
