Supervisors approve $377,371.29 in expenditures, partial multimodal grant payment for traffic-signal upgrades

Salem Township supervisors unanimously approved monthly expenditures Aug. 20 that included a $255,488.22 partial draw from a Multimodal/ARLE grant, Treasurer figures showed.
Resident Debbie Perino asked whether the $255,488.22 payment came from the grant and what the total award was. Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the Multimodal and ARLE grants combined are "about $950K. This is a partial payment. There is much more work to do. All the traffic signals in Salem Township are being upgraded." The approved expenditures included General Fund $299,300.41 (of which $255,488.22 was the grant payment), Payroll Fund $65,275.96, Fire Protection $626.75, Liquid Fuels $8,058.32, Machinery I $1,129.13, Sewer Revenue $2,487.00 and Street lights $493.72, for a total of $377,371.29.
The board disclosed routine business dealings filed with the Township Secretary where supervisors have dealings with certain vendors whose invoices may have been included in the payment motion. The motion passed unanimously. What happens next: the Treasurer will post the payments and the signal-upgrade program will proceed under grant terms.
