Saline County hears Aging Partners update, agrees to include Cornhusker United Way funding request in budget; appoints members to aging boards

The Saline County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 5 heard a program update from Jill Engel of Aging Partners and a joint presentation from Lori Moldenhauer of Aging Services and Collena Laschanzky of Cornhusker United Way. Engel requested $35,752 in program funding for Aging Partners; the minutes record the request but do not show a separate motion on that amount. Collena Laschanzky requested $1,800 from the county; Commissioner Ray Rohrig moved that the Cornhusker United Way $1,800 request be included in the county budget and the motion carried.
The board approved appointments to local aging boards. Sarah Brown was approved for the Area Wide on Aging Agency Board (motion by Rohrig, seconded by Pribyl). The board also approved five appointments to the Aging Services Board—Nancy Fulton, Jo Schachenmeyer, Barb Schwisow, Sarah Yokel and Connie Scherling—on a motion by Commissioner Phil Hardenburger.
The minutes do not record extended debate on the funding requests or additional conditions; vote records for the appointments show all present commissioners voting in the affirmative and Commissioner Russ Karpisek absent. The board adjourned at 12:27 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 19, 2025.
