Saline County commissioners approve $602,000 transfer to roads, sign multiple resolutions

The Saline County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 5 approved a series of routine resolutions and fund transfers, including a $602,000 shift from the Inheritance Fund to the Road and Bridge Fund intended to support county road and bridge work. Chairperson Stephanie A. Krivohlavek opened the meeting at 9:30 a.m.; the vote on the $602,000 transfer (Resolution #2025-062) carried with Commissioners Hardenburger, Rohrig, Pribyl and Krivohlavek voting aye and Commissioner Russ Karpisek absent.
The board also approved two smaller transfers from the Inheritance Fund: $3,245.67 to the Grant Fund (Resolution #2025-063) and $1,716.00 to the Juvenile Services Aid Program Fund (Resolution #2025-064); both were noted to be reimbursed when funds are available. Other approved resolutions included Resolution #2025-051 (tax foreclosure), Resolution #2025-052 (tax sale certificates) and Resolution #2025-066 authorizing the public sale of certain real estate. The board additionally approved Resolution #2025-065, the NDOT Annual Certification of Program Compliance.
The board approved the 2025–2026 JAG grant contracts and an Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification. Commissioners also approved county claims and departmental fee reports, including County Clerk July fees of $17,884.75 and Clerk of District Court July fees of $18,046.44. Vote records in the minutes show the same four commissioners voting in the affirmative on recorded motions, with Karpisek listed as absent for those votes.
Highway-related items included approval of inventory updates and acceptance of a Highway Superintendent report on surplus property and an NDOT bridge grant. The meeting included a detailed listing of approved vendor claims and payroll items.
At 11:50 a.m. the board entered closed session to discuss possible litigation and exited at 12:26 p.m. with no action taken. Chairperson Krivohlavek adjourned the meeting at 12:27 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 19, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. in the Saline County Commissioners' Room at the courthouse in Wilber.
