Elizabeth Rossell elected chair of Southampton Township Board of Health; solicitor appointed, rabies clinic announced

At its Jan. 2, 2025 organizational meeting, the Southampton Township Board of Health elected Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Rossell as chair, appointed Parker McCay (represented by George Morris, Esquire) as board solicitor, approved Resolution BH 2025-01 setting annual meeting notice and the 2026 reorganization date, and announced a free rabies clinic Jan. 18.
The Southampton Township Board of Health held its organizational meeting on Jan. 2, 2025, at the Robert L. Thompson Building. Township Clerk Melanie L. Brown called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and confirmed the presence of Committeeman Harrison, Committeeman Raftery, Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Rossell, Committeeman Young and Mayor Heston.
Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Rossell was nominated by Mayor Heston and seconded by Deputy Mayor Rossell for the position of Chairwoman. "At the call of the roll Committeeman Harrison, Committeeman Raftery, Chairwoman Rossell, Committeeman Young and Mayor Heston all voted in the affirmative for Elizabeth Rossell as Chairwoman to the board," the minutes record. Township Clerk Melanie L. Brown then administered the Oath of Office to Elizabeth Rossell, who chaired the remainder of the meeting.
The board appointed the law firm Parker McCay, represented by George Morris, Esquire, as the Board of Health solicitor after a motion by Committeeman Harrison and a second by Mayor Heston; the appointment was approved by unanimous roll-call vote. The board also approved Resolution BH 2025-01, which establishes the annual notice procedure for regular and workshop meetings and sets the Board of Health reorganization meeting for Jan. 2, 2026, at 5:55 p.m. Committeeman Harrison moved to approve the resolution and Chairwoman Rossell seconded; the roll call vote was unanimous.
Chairwoman Rossell opened the public comment portion of the meeting and said no one wished to be heard. Chairwoman Rossell announced, "The 2025 free rabies clinic is being held Saturday, January 18th at Vincent Fire House on Race Street from 10 AM to Noon. Dog licensing will also be done at the clinic." No other public business was raised.
Committeeman Young moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:39 p.m.; Mayor Heston seconded and the membership voted all ayes. Township Clerk Melanie L. Brown signed the minutes.
