Pittsburg County Excise Board Chairman Matt McGowan presided over a special session on May 18, 2026, at the County Clerk's Office in the county courthouse, where the board unanimously approved temporary appropriations for two school districts for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
The board approved the posted agenda — which had been posted May 15, 2026 at 8:42 a.m. — following a motion by Candido Echelle and a second from Randy Crone. Echelle then moved to approve the minutes of the regular May 4, 2026 meeting; Crone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
On agenda item I-17, Echelle moved to approve temporary appropriations for Quinton Public Schools for fiscal year 2026-2027; Crone seconded. The motion passed with all members voting AYE: Chairman Matt McGowan, Randy Crone and Candido Echelle. The transcript records the board's approval but does not list the appropriation amounts.
On agenda item I-25, Echelle moved and Crone seconded a motion to approve temporary appropriations for Indianola Public Schools for fiscal year 2026-2027. The board again voted unanimously to approve the appropriations; the transcript does not specify dollar amounts for this action either.
No members of the public spoke during the public-comment portion of the meeting. Under new business the board recorded no items that were unknown at the time the agenda was posted. Echelle moved to adjourn; Crone seconded and the board adjourned the special session.
Records in the transcript note the meeting convened at 9:00 a.m., was held in the County Clerk's Office at the County Courthouse, and that the agenda had been posted in advance.
