Auburndale tentatively approves FY2026 and FY2027 Capital Outlay sections, totals announced

City Manager Jeffrey Tillman presented and the commission tentatively approved the Capital Outlay sections of the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 and Fiscal Year 2027 budgets during the May 19 meeting.
Tillman summarized the biennial budget process and said staff asked department directors to reexamine capital projects scheduled for year two of the CIP to determine whether projects remain needed, could be delayed, or have an identified funding source. He presented FY2026 Capital Outlay totaling $27,167,396 and FY2027 Capital Outlay totaling $45,853,875, and summarized Public Utility, General Fund, and Community Redevelopment Agency capital projects programmed into the two‑year proposal.
Staff recommended tentative approval of the Capital Outlay sections; Commissioner Keith Cowie moved and Commissioner Jordan Helms seconded the motion. The commission voted unanimously to tentatively approve the Capital Outlay sections. Formal adoption of the FY2026 budget and conceptual approval of the FY2027 budget will follow public hearings in September.
