Commission approves first reading to annex Berardi property for manufacturing site

The Auburndale City Commission on May 19 approved first reading of Ordinance No. 1826 to annex approximately 8.73 acres on Haire Lane along U.S. Highway 92 into the city at the petition of property owner Jacob Berardi.
Community Development Director Julie Womble said the owner requested annexation to access city utilities in support of a proposed indoor tent manufacturing facility on the parcel; establishing future land use and zoning for the property will be considered at later public hearings before the Planning Commission and the City Commission.
Commissioner Keith Cowie moved approval of the annexation ordinance on first reading and Commissioner Bill Sterling seconded; the motion passed unanimously on first reading.
