The Foxborough Select Board on Sept. 10 approved several motions and administrative items during a regularly scheduled meeting.
Temporary utility license for 70 Elm Street: The board approved a temporary grant of license allowing National Grid to enter town property at 70 Elm Street to perform design and installation work for a permanent underground electrical service and transformer pending a future permanent easement to be finalized at town meeting.
Street-name recommendations: The board voted to approve a vetted list of veteran-related street names prepared by the Historical Commission and planning staff so that the names may be provided to developers for future subdivisions. Public Safety had reviewed and approved the list; board members asked staff to keep working on sign-format and length issues for emergency response clarity.
Business and entertainment licenses: The board approved a common victualer license, an annual entertainment license, an automatic-amusement license and a pool-table license for Laced Pizza & Pub at 94 Washington Street. Applicant Chap McRath said he plans a family-focused pizzeria with a single game room and will return to the board for a liquor-license transfer later.
Procurement and surplus-disposal policies: The board approved two administrative policies — a designer-selection procurement policy (a statewide template reviewed by Town Counsel) and a formal procedure for disposal of surplus supplies, materials and equipment, which sets different processes depending on an item’s book value (the policy uses $10,000 as a threshold). Board members clarified that the $10,000 figure refers to current book value, not original purchase price.
Donations and events: The board accepted a $600 donation from Clay Subaru for Recreation Department programs and an anonymous $100,000 donation to the Police Department gift fund. The board also approved a public-way use application for the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll drive on Oct. 5 and an extended-hours alcohol service request for Foxboro VFW Post 2626 during an overseas Patriots game.
Minutes and procedural items: The board approved the Aug. 12 meeting minutes and adjourned. Some agenda items — such as the Town Manager’s update — were deferred because staff were not present.
